Sheila W. Putzel passed away peacefully at home on Monday, January 8, 2018.
Born and educated in England, she came to Hyde Park as a Fulbright Fellow in 1953 and joined the advising staff of the University of Chicago in 1960, retiring in 1990 as Chief Adviser in the Health Professions.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Max J. Putzel, in 1996. Her first husband, Lawrence N. Jacques, and her brother, Patrick J. Butler, also preceded her. Survivors include several nieces and nephews.
Putzel’s family wishes to extend special thanks to the devoted caregivers who made it possible for her to spend her final years at home.
In accordance with her wishes, no services are planned. Private interment of cremated remains will be held at a later date.
