To the Editor:
Thursday, I enjoyed another long walk through Jackson Park and I noticed that the underpass at 59th and Lake Shore Drive is flooded again. I cannot understand why the Chicago Park District is considering building new underpasses in the park when they cannot maintain what they have already installed.
I also noticed that part of the structure they installed, recently, just north of the Clarence Darrow Bridge apparently to keep invasive fish from the lagoons surrounding the Wooded Isle has capsized. This new structure was installed after the chain link fence, to the south of the bridge, could be circumvented at either end by invasive fish.
When it comes to maintenance of the park the Chicago Park District should receive a failing grade.
