Police and fire report

The University of Chicago Police Department (UCPD) reported the following incidents in Hyde Park last week.

On Wednesday, May 16, at 10:40 p.m., a suspect attempted to rob an individual walking at 912 E. 53rd St. The victim solicited help from a passing motorist and the suspect fled.

On Saturday, May 19, at 6:50 p.m., an individual was holding a bicycle at 5500 S. Hyde Park Blvd. when a thief in a passing grey car took her purse from the bike’s basket and fled.

On Sunday, May 20, at 8 a.m., UCPD officers investigating a suspicious noise complaint at the Cobb Lecture Hall, 5811 S. Ellis. Ave., found that a suspect had forced entry into the basement Cobb Café. The suspect was arrested and charged with burglary.
