To the Editor:
Today, in the rain, I decided to walk the lakefront from 51st Street to 63rd Street. I was shocked when I passed the underpass at 55th Street and observed that it was completely flooded. I also noticed that the underpass at 59th Street was also flooded but it has been that way since last year. I did notice today that it was being guarded by a Park District employee napping in his vehicle, which was parked in the middle of the flooded area.
The Park District needs to explain why they want to build new underpasses when they fail to maintain those already in existence.
