The University of Chicago Police Department (UCPD) reported the following incidents from from June 18 to 24.
On Monday, June 18, at 11:57 p.m., police received a call about an unknown suspect breaking into an apartment on the 5400 South block of University Avenue and taking a computer stand. Chicago Police are investigating.
On Tuesday, June 19 at 11:30 a.m., a man assaulted his girlfriend at the University of Chicago Medicine Comer Children’s Hospital, 5721 S. Maryland Ave., and was arrested by UCPD officers.
On June 19 at 5:57 p.m., the UCPD received a call about a bicycle stolen from an apartment building on the 5400 South block of Hyde Park Boulevard. Chicago Police are investigating.
On Thursday, June 21 at 9:04 a.m., the UCPD received a call about a laptop and a tablet computer and tools stolen from a vehicle parked at 6030 S. Ellis Ave.
On June 21 at 3:10 p.m., a UCPD officer was struck in the face by a suspect while attending to a disturbance at 5700 S. Maryland Ave. The suspect was arrested by UCPD officers and charged with felony aggravated battery.
On June 21 at 3:30 p.m., three unknown suspects approached a victim walking at 5419 A. Kimbark Ave., pushed the victim to the ground, took the victim’s bag and fled. Two suspects were located and arrested by UCPD officers after being positively identified by the victim.
On Saturday, June 23 at 1:23 a.m., an individual took a victim’s cell phone on the sidewalk at 5812 S. Ellis Ave. before fleeing with a companion.
On June 23 at 7:20 p.m., two unknown teenagers on bicycles attempted to rob a University of Chicago Laboratory Schools student walking at 5751 S. Woodlawn Ave. The suspects announced their intention to take the victim’s cell phone and grabbed it. The victim grabbed the cell phone back, and a suspect punched the victim in the forehead. A UCPD officer detained two juvenile suspects, one of whom was identified by a witness to the robbery and charged.
On Sunday, June 24 at 12:15 p.m., individuals at an apartment on the 6100 South block of Kimbark Avenue had a disagreement over money. A suspect and a family member forcibly took cash and a wristwatch from the victim and escorted him from the apartment. Chicago Police are investigating.
On June 24 at 4:09 p.m., a victim reported having been sexually assaulted at 1 a.m. Saturday by an acquaintance at an apartment on the 5300 South block of Harper Avenue. Chicago Police are investigating.
