The University of Chicago Police listed the following incidents as having occurred between August 20 and August 27.

On Wednesday, Aug. 22 at 9:15 p.m., two suspects, both black men around 18 to 23 years old, robbed two people on the sidewalk at 5217 S. University Ave. The first offender, described by the Chicago Police as 5 feet 5 inches tall with natural hair and a dark brown complexion, pointed a gun at the victims and said “Empty your pockets.” The victims complied. The first offender then struck the victims in the jaw with his handgun. The second offender was described as 5 feet 10 inches tall with dreadlocks. The suspects fled southbound on University Avenue; no offenders are in custody, and Area Central detectives are investigating. The victims declined medical assistance.
On Thursday, Aug. 23 at 11 a.m., a father struck his daughter in the face with his fist at the University of Chicago Medical Center emergency room, 5656 S. Maryland Ave. He was arrested by UCPD officers.
On Friday, Aug. 24 at 3:43 p.m., UCPD officers detained two suspects wanted by the Chicago Police for possession of a stolen vehicle and a multiple vehicle traffic crash and turned them over to the Chicago Police.
On Aug. 24 at 7:45 p.m., a visitor at the University of Chicago Medical Center emergency room struck a staff member in the face with his fist, was arrested by the UCPD and charged with felony aggravated battery to a protected employee.
On Aug. 24 at 10:05 p.m., two individuals sitting in Nichols Park, 1355 E. 53rd St., were approached by two suspects who implied they had weapons and robbed one victim of an iPhone before fleeing southbound through the park. The Chicago Police are investigating.
On Saturday, Aug. 25 at 6:50 a.m., a suspect who had ignored previous warnings not to trespass on University of Chicago property was arrested for trespassing at the Polsky Center, 1452 E. 53rd St. The suspect was also charged with drug paraphernalia possession.
On Aug. 25 at 8:15 a.m., UCPD officers arrested a suspect after he ran from Target, 1346 E. 53rd St., without paying for merchandise.
On Aug. 25 at 8:27 p.m., a UCPD officer assisting a motorist was struck by a vehicle at 5130 S. Lake Park Ave. The officer was treated and released at the University of Chicago Medical Center emergency room.
On Sunday, Aug. 26 at 3:50 p.m., police arrested a 15-year-old male who robbed a 55-year-old woman of her purse from a Divvy bike at 5101 S. Woodlawn Ave. UCPD officers located and detained a suspect, positively identified by the victim, who had possession of the victim’s cell phones and directed them to the victim’s purse. The suspect was then arrested by the Chicago Police. The victim declined to press charges so long as she got her purse back, and the offender was released without charges.
