The Kenwood Academy High School Broncos fell to the Waukegan High School Bulldogs 69-68 in a non-conference game played at the University of Chicago Lab School on Saturday.
In the first half, the Broncos defense came out sluggish, surrendering 10 first quarter points to Waukegan’s point guard Andre White Jr., but the Kenwood offense managed to tie the game 37-37 by half time.
“Our big man Seryee Lewis ran off six straight points and got us back into the game,” said Steve Parham, the Broncos’ assistant coach. “But are team went cold in the fourth quarter and only got off one shot attempt.”
Parham said after Lewis scored six straight points and Artese Stapleton exploded for 13 points in the third quarter, the Broncos managed to only have one shot attempt in the final quarter of regulation.
Prior to losing to the Bulldogs on Saturday night, the Broncos defeated U-High 54-51 in their home opener on Wednesday.
On Tuesday Dec. 5, the Broncos will hit the road and play against Corliss High School, with tip-off at 5 p.m.
