The University of Chicago Police Department (UCPD) reported the following incidents between May 6 and May 12.

On Wednesday, May 8, at 3:25 p.m., a boyfriend slapped his girlfriend during the course of an argument at the University of Chicago (U. of C.) Medical Center, 5656 S. Maryland Ave., but the victim declined to prosecuten.

On Thursday, May 9, at 7:40 p.m., a patient spit on a staff member at the U. of C. Medical Center but was not arrested due to their medical condition. Charges are pending.

On Friday, May 10, at 11:16 a.m., a UCPD officer arrested a person at 1100 E. 55th St. for possession of a motor vehicle reported stolen from Schaumburg, Illinois,

On Saturday, May 11, at 3 a.m., a victim and a relative were attempting to purchase cannabis from an unknown individual from their car at 4600 S. Ellis Ave. when the suspect displayed a handgun and demanded his money. The suspect fired the weapon as the victim and his relative drove off, striking the victim in his left arm. His relative drove the victim to the U. of C. Medical Center for treatment. The Chicago Police are investigating.

On May 11 at 3:20 p.m., Leonard Delaney, a 22-year-old battery suspect, punched an employee of a retail establishment at 1519 E. 55th St., the location of Jimmy John’s. The victim, who declined medical attention, held Delaney until a UCPD officer arrived, and the Chicago Police arrested him.

On May 11 at 4:41 p.m., a UCPD officer arrested an individual wanted on a warrant from the Skokie, Illinois, police at the John Crerar Library, 5730 S. Ellis Ave.

On May 11 at 11:55 p.m., two suspects — described as a Black man 17 to 19 years old 5 feet 10 inches tall weighing 130 to 160 pounds wearing a red jacket and a Black woman 17 to 20 years old 5 feet 6 to 8 inches tall weighing 120 to 150 pounds — exited a light brown Honda SUV and approached a victim walking at 1361 E. 52nd St.. The male suspect demanded her handbag and cellphone; the victim refused, and he punched her in the face and stole her property. The offenders entered the vehicle and fled northbound on Kenwood Avenue. The victim refused medical treatment. Chicago Police detectives are investigating.

On Sunday, May 12, at 12:51 p.m., a boyfriend struck his girlfriend with his fists on the street at 6100 S. Drexel Ave. He fled, but a UCPD officer arrested him.

On May 12, at 8:54 p.m., the UCPD arrested a motorist for driving without a valid driver’s license at 1527 E. 55th St.
