The Kenwood Broncos football team improved to 5-1 on the season by defeating Gwendolyn Brooks College Prep 24 to 8 on Friday night at Gately Stadium.

It was senior night for the Broncos, and they honored 19 players prior to the game.

“The game really had a lot of hype behind it,” said Dante Reynolds, wide receiver for the Broncos, after scoring three touchdowns during the game. “There was a lot of tension and animosity towards both teams. We had to come out on top.”

After scoring two touchdowns in the first three quarters, one on a 55-yard punt return and the other on a six-yard reception, Reynolds leaped over an Eagle defender in the end zone for his third TD, making the score 24-8.

In addition to a huge game by Reynolds, Broncos QB Kaleb Garner threw for two TDs and over 100 yards from scrimmage in his return from injury.

Linebacker Rickie Jones led the defense with eight tackles as the Broncos held the Eagles to just eight points.
