Several Hyde Park businesses will bring a “Taste of Hyde Park” to the Polished Pebbles Girls Mentoring Program’s 10th anniversary celebration on Oct. 12.

Polished Pebbles is a Chicago-based mentoring initiative that teaches effective communication to youth between the ages of 7 and 17. The organization has worked with over 3,000 girls and young women in Chicago, Chicagoland suburbs, Indiana, Texas and North Carolina. To celebrate their achievements, they will host a carnival themed party titled “We’re Better Together” at the Hyde Park Bank Building, 1525 E. 53rd St., from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday.

During the afternoon, local businesses that donated food to the “Taste of Hyde Park” event by Hyde Park Transitional Housing Project will be vendors during the celebration. Families and community members can expect food and drinks from Sip & Savor, Kimbark Liquors, Cedars Mediterranean, Medici, Vanille and Pork Chop at the carnival-themed event. The Hyde Park Bank and the Hyde Park Chamber of Commerce will be there as well.

For those interested in attending, buy tickets online at eventbrite/polished pebbles. Tickets range between $50- $150.
